Bonjour. I am currently in Nice, southern france. Leaving tomorrow morning to go to switzerland. Nice is not a nice place, pardon the pun. there's dog crap everywhere, the beach is too pebbly, and there are people here who have gotten way too much sun in their lifetimes and have skin that is way too bronze colour to be healthy. however, did head up to monaco/monte carlo yetserday. now that's where it's at. its really pretty there, not to mention ridiculously expensive.

About ten more days left in Europe. Frankly, I am ready to head home. Travelling through hotels/hostels/restaurants/cafes/tourist traps/trains/planes gets tiresome after a while. what I wouldn't give to get up and have a nice glass of chilled orange juice and flip through an english newspaper at a lesiurely pace.

Hello everybody. I am in Madrid now. So far, its been a whirlwind trip. Have been to London, Belgium, Paris, and now here. Am leaving tomorrow to go to Barcelona. Actually, Madrid is pretty boring and to top it off, the weather is insanely hot to boot. It is easily 40 degrees celsius midday, hence that is why we are leaving tomorrow. Paris was alright, although I think by the last day,I had gotten my fill of sight seeing for a while. We have been staying at a mixture of hotels and hostels. Some good, some bad. Rest assured, this is the very last time I ever travel in this manner. It is much too painful to envision slogging through this sort of intercontinental torture when I am older.

Best story of the trip so far, met a couple of Americans from UNC. They were heading home early from their vacation with their heads behind their tails, leaving early because as they put it, they couldn´´t handle it anymore. Perhaps this had to do with the fact that they each decided to pack 40 pound backpacks and 20 pound day packs. My whole backpack is only 20 pounds!

That is all from Europe for now... laterz

Holy mother of god! That was . . . . . . well it was something. Suffice to say I was eating a salad when watching it and had to struggle not to snort the crotons from my nostrils.

p.s. The video reminded me a certain episode in the Townhouse. I won't mention names, but Chris and Brad was involved in it.

Well, heading off on National Lampoon's great European Adventure 2003 in a manner of hours. Check back on this blog for infrequent updates of my travels. I will do my best not to get killed/robbed or made a fool of. Later!

A great great website for bookworms. The people behind it take classic works that's in the public domain, (i.e. 1920's and earlier) and make pretty high quality e-books viewable in various formats, including Acrobat Reader. From Homer to Chekov, they got it all. And the best part is that it's free. Of course the latest Stephen King is not here, and the majority of the volumes are widely available gathering dust in the big libraries, nonetheless it's a very cool service.

Is there any stats on the any changes to the proportion of male vs female college applicants through out the years? If such data exist, we could at least know whether it's college admission policy skews toward women or simply more women than men applies to college.

Here's a question that I'm throwing out there. Hopefully, somebody can shed some light on this. Why is it, that in recent years, at the universitylevel, there is a growing gender imbalance, with more and more women educated than men? I was reading a column by a sportscaster, who suggests that part of the reason is that males are encouraged to play sports, while women are encourgaed to study. This seems a bit of a crock of crap to me, as if girls aren't encouraged to do anything else, but I'm not sure. Any thoughts?

For those who are interested, Here is a software that seems to be a non-illegal way to make back-up copies of commerical DVDs. I don't know how well it works.

Sosa's bat is just another example of professional sports being for the dogs. This is a guy who's tried to play him off as a great, Dominican success story for years. But first, he exploded at a writer who had the audacity to suggest he take a drug test, and now, this whole bat business. Clearly, he belongs on the list.

I am proud to say that I'm watching less and less sports of late. I have not watched a Stanley Cup playoff game since the second round, and all interest in the NBA playoffs disappeared when Robert Horry missed that 3 pointer against the Spurs. Sports are meant to be played, out in the sun, at the gym, they're meant for working up a sweat, buidling camraderie, learning teamwork, pushing yourself to be the best you can be, not for us to sit in front of the television, watching overpaid fat cats prance and preen on the screen, while we pay hundreds of dollars to wear their shoes and trade little cards with their autographs on them.
